Simon Grayson pleased with Fleetwood performance but frustrated by result against MK Dons

However, Town had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their final home game of the season as Ged Garner’s strike just past the hour was cancelled out by Charlie Brown’s 83rd-minute equaliser for the Dons.

Head coach Grayson said: “It’s a bit of a frustrating one because I really thought we deserved to win the game.

“Our collective attitude was good, the way we applied ourselves was really good and the way we played against a very possession-based team pleased me.

“We knew we’d have to keep our shape and our discipline, but we also knew we could pinch things in the right areas and hit them on the break when space opened up.

“We hit the woodwork and created a number of other opportunities in the first half, and I wanted to keep doing the same things in the second.

“We had other opportunities, but while it’s still only 1-0 you’re still concerned that it’s not enough.

“We did just switch off a little bit for the equaliser but we definitely saw a reaction from the players following the game last Tuesday.

“Even though the performance and the attitude was good at Burton, we did lose 5-2 and I wanted to see a better performance, which we got.”

It was Town’s first draw in 10 games and followed a run of three defeats in four.

Fleetwood will end the League One campaign in 14th or 15th position after Sunday’s final match at Ipswich Town.
