Fleetwood let a one goal lead slip as the Seasiders struck twice in the dying minutes to turn the game on its head.

With six minutes left to go at Bloomfield Road Town were on course for their first ever league win over Gary Bowyer's side thanks to Wes Burns' 75th minute deflected strike.

But Viv Solomon Otabor and substitute Arman Gnanduiellet pounced late on to thwart Sherdian's side.

It is only Sheridan's second defeat since taking over and he credited the defeat to a lack of game management in the closing stages.

He also said that Burns, who became the first Fleetwood player to score against Blackpool in the league, should have made it 2-0 when he was sent through on goal before the Seasiders' late rally.

Sheridan said: "It is difficult to speak when a game goes like that.

"It was a scrappy game, a scrappy pitch and if you get caught up in it they are good at what they do to be fair to them.

"I was comfortable in the way we played, they hit the post in the first half but I was comfortable.

"I felt we needed to be more of a goal threat.

"We upped our game second half, we were a lot better, we got the goal, which gives you the advantage.

"Then we have a brilliant move for what could have been a second and Wes should score.

"He should score all day long.

And then it is the last three or four minutes, a bit of game know-how.

"I never felt we were going to lose the game.

"I thought we dealt with what they threw at us.

"For their first goal we have got the ball at the corner flag and they end up somehow breaking on us.

"On a couple of occasions people making the wrong decisions then it just goes in the box and we should deal with it.

"We dealt with them nearly all game and there is two minutes to go.

"It is difficult to take.

"I'm gutted for the supporters I thought once we got the goal there was only one winner but not to be.

"Five minutes from time I was thinking I'm jubilant go over and celebrate with the supporters.

"But the way the game ends is a bit of a down, a massive down for us because we played the game well but we did not play the last five or six minutes well.

"We got the goal, we get the lead and we should score to make it 2-0 and the outcome of the game should be completely different so I feel as though we threw the game away. "
