Sarcevic relishing another play-off chase
Twice last season Town had to watch the Spireites celebrate at the Proact stadium - Paul Cook’s men denying them a trip to Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and scooping the League Two title on the last day of the season.

Hide AdFast forward 10 months and there’s nothing between the two teams as both chase sixth spot in League One and a chance for promotion through the play-offs.
And with Town beginning to find consistency at the right time, 22-year-old Sarcevic believes there’s still everything to play for.
“Why not think we can push on,” he told The Gazette.
“There’s always been that one or two point gap.
“We lose a game and think that’s it and then we win and we’re back in it again.

“If we’re in that play-off spot at the end of the season I don’t see why we can’t do it again.”
Town were given a helping hand in midweek by the division’s breakaway leading pack – Bristol City, Swindon, Preston and Sheffield United all registering wins over Town’s rivals while Chesterfield lost to Rochdale.
Sarcevic was pleased to see games in hand written off.

“They’ve done us a favour and there’s quite a few teams in and around the last few play-off places and we’re right in the thick of it.”
Tomorrow’s game is the latest chapter in an entertaining run of encounters between the two sides.

“Last season it was us and Chesterfield battling away, looking to win the title,” he said.
“They went and took it.
“But we’ve both gone on and shown we’re not frightened by League One.
“Both teams are aiming for the play-off push.”
“We’ve kept the same teams, it’s the same lads.

Former Crewe youngster Sarcevic has found himself back in regular first team action in recent weeks but with a new role, on the right side of midfield alongside man of the moment Nick Haughton.
The pair have provided just the creative spark Fleetwood have needed in recent weeks and Sarcevic is happy to do all he can to support the youngster
“Nick’s come in and had no fear,” he said.
“He’s only going to get better.

“As long as the team are winning it doesn’t matter.”
With 20-year-old Haughton alongside him Sarcevic is suddenly one of the old hands of the Fleetwood midfield - not that he wants people to make too much of his experience.
“I don’t like that word experienced,” he joked.
“The gaffer used it when I came on at Barnsley and it got to me that!
“But seriously, I’ll have to take that on and I’ll try to help Nick as much as I can.
“He’s a lot like I was, he’s come from non-league.
“I can see him doing very well.”
