Rosler rumours inevitable, admits Fleetwood chairman

Rumours linking Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rosler to the vacant Norwich hotseat are set to prove false this week, though Town chairman Andy Pilley admits speculation about the future of his players and staff is inevitable after their historic season.

Rosler himself slammed the Canaries links as “fake news” and the East Anglian club is reported to be targeting another German, Daniel Farke of Borussia Dortmund.

Farke has been in charge of the club’s reserve team since David Wagner’s move to Huddersfield, who contest Monday’s Championship play-off final with Reading at Wembley.

Rosler, 48, is understandably hot property after guiding Town to their highest-ever EFL finish – fourth in League One.

Fleetwood missed out on the play-off final after losing 1-o to Bradford City in a two-legged play-off semi-final this month.

Before Town embarked on their play-off quest, chairman Pilley said he was not overly concerned about the Rosler speculation, adding that he was looking forward to summer discussions with the head coach, who will be out of contract at the end of next season.

Pilley said speculation about Rosley and any of his players is inevitable, given the good job they have done at Highbury.

He said: “I think what happens is that everyone who does a very good job will inevitably be linked with other football clubs.

“Football is a food chain, and it happens with players and with the managers.

“I speak to Uwe regularly and he seems very happy. He actually says it is the happiest he has ever been, so I’m not overly concerned.”
