Rosler: Momentum still with Fleetwood despite '˜blip'

Uwe Rosler says his Fleetwood team have not lost momentum despite the 'blip' at Rochdale.

Town’s head coach says his squad have looked good in training ahead of tomorrow’s Highbury clash with his pal Karl Robinson’s MK Dons.

Rosler says the key to having the top-six mentality he is trying to instil is to bounce back from setbacks like last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat.

He said: “I felt we would have a blip eventually. I didn’t expect it against Rochdale but we have to deal with it.

“I think we have learned the lessons from pre-season, when we conceded 16 goals in six games. As long as we reinforce those things (we learned), we will move on quickly from the disappointment.

“I think (the defeat) was unnecessary but that will happen over a season with at least 50 competitive games. It is more about how we react to this.

“The players are as good as gold and that (result) will not change my judgement. I’m pretty sure our players are with me on the same page.

“Momentum will only stay with us when we work harder and better, and are smarter than our opposition. When we take our foot off the pedal things happen like at Rochdale.

“I understand that we are humans not machines, but the top-six mentality is to be mentally strong, to know what we have to do to keep momentum going. The momentum is not gone, even after Rochdale.

“Seeing the boys training and how they were reacting, I’m pretty sure we will have a decent performance against MK Dons.”

Rosler says midfielder Jimmy Ryan is still a doubt due to the mystery knock he picked up against Charlton a fortnight ago. He said: “I would have loved to use Jimmy last weekend but there was medical reasons for that.

“Last week we were pretty sure he was playing and he wasn’t in the end. This week I have been more on the cautious foot. He trained Thursday but we are not sure. We have to see how his reaction is.

“If there is any doubt in my mind I will not risk him at this stage in the season.”
