But after making just five appearances in all competitions for the club he has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to join Accrington, a club he previously enjoyed a spell on-loan at.

Just minutes after he ended his short stint at Highbury the club announced the signing of City central defender Oliver on loan until the end of the season.

Oliver, 20, joined City's academy aged eight and has become a regular member of their development squad but he is yet to break through into their first team and has now teamed up with former City striker and current Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rosler.

He is anticipated to link-up with Town's first team and provide back up for experienced central defensive trio Ash Eastham, Cian Bolger and Nathan Pond.
