REACTION: Pool were hard done-by, says Bowyer

Gary Bowyer believes his Blackpool side ought to have picked up a point in their 2-1 defeat at home to Doncaster Rovers.

A Tommy Rowe brace saw the Seasiders go down to their first defeat at Bloomfield Road since December, leaving Bowyer's side looking nervously over their shoulders towards the bottom four.

While the seven-point gap to Oldham remains intact, Blackpool travel to Boundary Park on Easter Monday to face a Latics side who still have two games in hand to play.

Colin Daniel had equalised for Blackpool at the start of the second half after Rowe had put Doncaster ahead on the stroke of half-time.

But Rowe netted the winner from a clever free-kick routine after Curtis Tilt had been harshly adjudged to have fouled John Marquis.

Bowyer said: “It’s disappointing to lose because I thought we were worthy of a point. We conceded two poor goals from our point of view.

“In the build up to their first goal there were three or four opportunities to put a tackle in, but we didn’t.

“But even then their goal takes a massive deflection which probably sums up the first half. I don’t think either goalkeeper had made a save prior to that.

“In the first half we just weren’t at it in terms of our aggressiveness and intensity that we normally play at.

“But we showed a fantastic response in the second half. We were on the front foot, scored a fabulous goal and really had a go.

“We continued to press after getting that equaliser and we forced corner after corner. It was just that final little bit again.

“To get done how we get done is a sucker-punch because I’ve just watched the ‘foul’ back for their second seven or eight times and I can’t see how it’s been given.

“But I thought he was appalling the referee. But we’ve said that week in, week out. We don’t get anything. I’m pretty sick of it to be honest.

“It doesn’t matter if he goes in from the side, what else is he supposed to do? They make the rules up. It’s a really disappointing one.

“The free kick hasn’t really gone in with any venom, so we’re disappointed with that once the referee has given the free kick."
