Quigley needs answers on return to Blackpool

He came off the bench in the league nine times but he did go on to enjoy a fruitful loan spell with National League side Wrexham.

Having arrived at the Racecourse Ground in January, the 25-year-old went on to bag eight goals in 17 league matches, seven of them coming in his first eight matches.

Now Quigley’s time at Wrexham has come to an end, he says he will hold talks with Pool boss Gary Bowyer to see what the future holds.

“I have spoken regularly to the gaffer at Blackpool and he is saying they want me back,” Quigley said. “I don’t know what is going to happen next year. I don’t really know what their plans are yet but at the end of the day I am going to do what is right for my career so I am going to see what the options are and go from there.

“Gary Bowyer wanted me to go and experience English football, prove I could do it and hopefully I have done that. Now it is up to him really, we will have to see what he says.

“I don’t want to go there and play Checkatrade Trophy games, I am going to make that clear, and I will leave the ball in his court. If anything comes up, I will have to see the options.”

Quigley, who still has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road, says he would not be against a return to Wrexham next season.

“I have spoken briefly about it but I am Blackpool’s player and under contract there so I can’t really say too much,” he added.

“But I would love to come back here and get a full season.

“The perfect idea would have been to get promoted and then come back. It hasn’t happened, who knows how it is going to go.”

Despite Wrexham missing out on the play-offs, Quigley thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club.

“I loved every single minute of it and the fans have been absolutely brilliant with me,” he said. “I have never seen a bad comment about myself, everyone has been so supportive so I just want to thank all the fans for that.”

“It is a great club, I am just so disappointed we couldn’t get to the play-offs. I am gutted I couldn’t help them get promotion but I think they have got a solid foundation for next season.”
