Pressley: This spell can define Fleetwood’s season

Town face Swindon tomorrow and Millwall on Tuesday before taking on the Seasiders next weekend.

Two of the three games are against sides in the relegation mix alongside Fleetwood, and Pressley believes the next couple of weeks will have a massive say on his side’s campaign

“We have to be ready for this,” he said. “This is a really important period.

“It could define the type of campaign we have – whether we’re a team looking to the top half of the table or a team who will purely be battling for survival.

“These next weeks will give us a clear indication of what sort of side we’re going to be.

Fleetwood’s performances have improved in recent weeks but they have still lost eight of their last 10 fixtures.

Pressley made it clear there can be no more sob stories, insisting only wins will do.

“We’ve had some strong performances but only won one of the three.

“They were games I believe we should have taken more from.

“It’s important we don’t just give good performances but winning performances.”

The Fylde coast has been battered by the elements this week but Town, working at their new Poolfoot Farm training base , have hardly been affected by the wind and rain – a fact which delights the manager.

Pressley said: “The pitches are excellent and the drainage is first class.

“It’s not prevented us training properly in any shape or form.

“The wind is not ideal. It makes life difficult in terms of some of the sessions.

“It’s been a good week and we’ve been training hard.

“We’ve had to tail it down in the last couple of days but we’re really positive.

“We feel we’re ready and it’s going to be a really good test for ourselves.”

What’s vital to the Town boss is a strong start, Pressley admitting his side had been sluggish out of the blocks.

He continued: “It’s a really, really big game for us. The type of game that can give you 
confidence and momentum going into back to back games.

“We really need to try and win, especially at home.

“Home wins are vitally important. We have to play with real intent.

“I’ve watched back our last couple of games and our second-half performances have been outstanding.

“But we haven’t really got going to start with or found the confidence we need.

“We haven’t started with that intensity.

“That’s a real goal for the weekend – to start with intent and have the confidence to go with it.”

Town have no fresh injury concerns.
