They came out on top in the Under-11 Classic Cup Final with a 3-0 win against Fleetwood Town.

Fleetwood actually started the game the brighter as it appeared BJFF were suffering from cup final nerves and couldn’t get their game going.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, were gunning for goal and created some great chances and really should have been in the lead early on but for Raedan Shirran and Fin Hambly making some fine goalline stops.

BJFF continued to try and play their football but try as they might, they couldn’t get their passing game going.

That was until the 25th minute when Taylor Shaw received the ball 25 yards out and he smashed a superb shot which looped over the keeper and into the back of the net.

That settled any nerves BJFF had as they started to pass the ball well.

A close effort led to a goal kick, which Fleetwood’s keeper launched into midfield but Luca Morelli intercepted and laid the ball off to Shaw, who shielded the ball really well before turning his marker and driving the ball into the bottom corner to give BJ a 2-0 half-time lead.

BJFF came out in the second half with their tails up and started to play some great stuff, but Fleetwood weren’t done and continued to try to get a goal back.

They even had the ball in the net but, unfortunately, the striker was just offside.

BJFF started a good move through midfield, the ball comes to Josh Nester and everyone was screaming for him to move the ball out to the left wing.

He had other ideas and slotted an inch-perfect pass through to Shaw, who drilled it past the keeper to round off a great game with a hat-trick.

BJFF enjoyed the best of the second half with Raedean Shirran also striking the post twice after two great runs and shots.

He deserved a goal but his efforts in defence and later midfield, constantly blocking anything Fleetwood tried and playing the ball out to start BJFF’s attacks gained him BJFF’s man of the match award.

Meanwhile, in the group stage of the Under-nine Coulton Cup, YMCA Oranges picked up a 3-0 home victory in their game against St Annes Crusaders.

YMCA Under-15s continued their recent good form with a comfortable 5-2 victory against neighbours Lytham Juniors.

Although the early play was scrappy, YMCA made the most of the early running without managing to carve out any clear chances.

However they took the lead in the 20th minute when Taylor Stock took the ball to the left byline and sent in a low cross to Jake Molloy who bundled the ball into the net.

YMCA remained on top but were caught out on the break by a Lytham attack five minutes before the break and the visitors levelled the scores.

YMCA Under-13 Girls beat Cadley 5-3 in the first round of the North Valley Burnley Unity League Cup.

YMCA progressed through to the next round after a hard-working display at Seafield Road.

Both teams were evenly matched in the early stages but it was YMCA who took the lead in the 10th minute when Isabelle Kells beat the keeper to a bouncing ball and headed it over her head before firing it into the empty net.

Their lead was then doubled when Ellie McNally played an excellent pass to Kells who made no mistake to make it 2-0.
