Pool goalkeeping coach celebrates 1,000th game

Blackpool goalkeeping coach Dave Timmins marked his 1,000th league game in coaching when the Seasiders faced Morecambe this weekend.

The 46-year-old, who joined the club from Port Vale in the summer, was presented with a signed and framed shirt by manager Gary Bowyer and goalkeeper Sam Slocombe to mark the occasion.

Timmins, who has worked in similar positions at Wolves, Shrewsbury Town, Carlisle United, Preston North End and Tranmere Rovers, also received video messages from those he has coached in that time, including Joe Hart, Andy Lonergan and Jak Alnwick.

Former colleagues from Tranmere Rovers were also in attendance for his 1,000th match, in order to hand over a commemorative book containing hand written messages of praise.

"I think anybody who knows him will know it's been done through hard work," Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer said.

"The commitment the lad has is incredible, his work-ethic is phenomenal and he's great around the place.

"The contribution he's made to this football club, in the short time that's been here, is nothing short of massive. He helps out everybody in every department, goes to games for you at the drop of a hat and just absolutely loves football. He's committed to the game and it's a wonderful achievement. I'm absolutely delighted for him."
