Papa John's Trophy round three draw: Who Fleetwood Town can face and the prize money up for grabs in the last sixteen

When will the Papa John’s Trophy third round draw take place?

The third round draw will take place on Thursday, December 10 at 11:15am.

Who can Fleetwood face in the third round?

The third round of the competition remains regionalised, meaning Sunderland can only draw another one of the teams in the Northern Section of the draw.

Here’s all the teams in the hat in the Northern Section, and their ball numbers:

1 – Accrington Stanley

2 – Fleetwood Town

3 – Hull City

4 – Leicester City U21s

5 – Lincoln City

6 – Port Vale

7 – Sunderland AFC

8 – Tranmere Rovers

Should Fleetwood progress, then they could be drawn against a team in the Southern Section – with the quarter final ties decided by an open draw.

How will the draw work?

Unlike the last round, it is not pre-determined whether Fleetwood will play at home or away in the third round.

Therefore, the team who is drawn out first will play at home.

When will the ties be played?

Ties are scheduled to be played on the week commencing January 11, 2021.

How much prize money is available in the third round?

Fleetwood will pocket £40,000 if they win their third round tie.

That will add to the £65,000 the club as already earned from this season’s competition.

The club were given £20,000 for participating in the Papa John’s Trophy and received £10,000 for each of their two group stage wins.

Tuesday’s draw with Blackpool then provided Fleetwood with an additional £25,000 in prize money.

How many rounds are left until the final?

Including the third round, Fleetwood will have to win three more games if they are to return to Wembley.

After this stage of the competition, only one-legged quarter-finals and semi-finals separate sides from the national stadium.
