OPPOSITION VIEW: Cook admits Blackpool deserved the win

The Seasiders sprung a shock on the title favourites by picking up a vital three points to take them away from the League One dropzone.

Armand Gnanduillet and Kelvin Mellor scored the goals in what was Pool's first win in their last four.

Wigan, who remain second in the league, were never at the races as they lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Cook said: "We just didn't play well, did we?

"I don't think I've ever seen us give the ball away as much.

"From there we can go on and on, and the anxiety reaches out into the crowd - and that's football.

"We've seen it time and again over the years, and one thing I've learned over the years is that those players need massive support.

"The biggest thing I can do as a manager is to keep supporting them, because they've set the bar so high.

"Unfortunately when they fall just below it, everyone is disappointed.

"I'm as disappointed as the next man, and the players are just as disappointed.

"But great credit to Blackpool, who have deserved to win the game.

"It's a long season, we're 30 games in now, some of the other teams are 33 games in, and only at the end of the season will we know how everyone has done.
