No hard feelings but Sheff United old boy would love a goal

The Blackpool striker had two spells at Bramall Lane as a youngster but failed to make a mark at the South Yorkshire club.

The 24-year-old first joined them on loan from Chelsea in 2011 before making a permanent move the following summer.

Despite showing promise, and firing a number of goals for the club’s reserves, Philliskirk never found the net for Sheffield United, but he would love to do so against them at Bloomfield Road tonight.

Saying that, it’s not a time in his career he looks back on in a negative light.

Philliskirk said: “I have played them twice already this season but unfortunately I drew and lost.

“Hopefully I can go one step further and get a win tonight.

“I scored against them this season in the game Oldham drew, which was nice.

“I had a great time there and have lots of good friends there. Chris Morgan who has gone onto Chesterfield now was great with me there and really helped me.

“There’s no hard feelings about my time there.

“I probably wasn’t ready for first team football there but I never really got a chance there to be honest.

“I’ve never looked back negatively about my time there, I’ve just worked hard.

“Hopefully I can keep scoring goals and moving forward in my career.

“It would be nice to score and win against them tonight thought.”

Philliskirk has made a superb start to life at Blackpool with two goals in his first three games for the club.

He joined at the start of the month in a £75,000 deal and fired a 94th-minute goal to earn a point at Walsall.

The former Oldham man say’s he’s already noticed the trend of writing Blackpool off, and he hopes they can again prove people wrong this evening.

Philliskirk said: “We have nothing to lose against Sheffield United and Gillingham. Everyone will probably write us off there too.

“But if we can get off on the front foot we can get at them and take the game to them.”
