Lucketti hails ‘magnificent’ Town

Assistant boss Chris Lucketti insists there’s a bright future at Fleetwood Town – a 2-0 victory at Rochdale hauling Graham Alexander’s men back into the play-off chase.

“They were magnificent,” said Lucketti. “Every single one of the players and the subs who came on contributed.

“I thought it was a worthy three points. We took the chances, that’s the difference. It has been a problem of ours.

“We’ve been creating chances in every single game. We have been failing to take them.”

Lucketti, himself a former centre-half, couldn’t have been more pleased with skipper Roberts, who scored the opener with a back post header before setting up Morris for the second.

He said: “Robbo lead the way for us, he’s our captain and he set a great example. Then he’s set up the second for Josh.

“It’s put us in a position where we’ve got the breathing space and maybe we haven’t had that this season, maybe that’s what we’ve been missing.

“I’d have been delighted with that header and I think he should be too. He leads by example and I think it was fitting he scored our goal.

“I’m not sure how he found himself up there for the second but he’s played a nice ball in and it’s been finished fantastically well.”

Town kept Rochdale at bay for the majority of the 90 minutes but Chris Maxwell produced the goods when asked, Town’s keeper with crucial saves in the opening 30 seconds and the last minute to help seal the win

“We’ve been quite dominant,” said Lucketti.

“It was probably one of our most complete performances of the season.

“We were dominant in possession and created the better chances.

“When they’ve come at us we’ve taken it well.

“Chris Maxwell has made three outstanding saves, important saves.

“But we don’t want to single out individuals, it’s a team performance.”
