The long-serving Sky Sports host is preparing to walk 15 marathons in 15 days for Prostate Cancer UK from June 2-16.

This will be the second year in a row that Stelling has taken on the challenge after he walked 10 marathons in 10 days last year, taking on 32 football clubs and clocking up 262 miles – raising £420,000 in the process to help beat a disease killing one man every hour in the UK.

This time, Stelling will start his long march at Exeter City’s St James’s Park on Friday, June 2 and finish 400 miles later at Newcastle United’s St James’s Park, visiting 40 clubs in between.

He will take on a route that will include stopping by Bloomfield Road on day nine, which will fall on Saturday, June 10.

He will start the day at Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park before visiting the grounds of Preston North End and AFC Fylde on his way to the Fylde coast.

Stelling said: “After the agony and ecstasy of the walk last year, particularly the agony, so many people have been in touch with me, people with stories of their battle against prostate cancer.

“It’s just inspirational and it’s inspired me to do something once again.”

Former Blackpool manager and current Preston boss Simon Grayson and Sean Dyche are two of those expected to take part this year.

Stelling is hopeful people in and around the Blackpool area can come out in their droves, including those who will use the event as a way of voicing their frustrations at Blackpool owners the Oyston family.

Stelling added: “If that’s what they want to do then that’s their right and I appreciate their frustrations.

“I know exactly what it’s like to love a football club and to feel powerless to do anything about the things that are going on.

“Whether they’re protesting against the owners or not I would ask them to come along and support us.

“I don’t mind what they do as long as they come along and give us a couple of quid, that will be even better.”
