Port Vale keeper coach Dave Timmins has been offered the chance to link-up with Gary Bowyer at Bloomfield Road as the new Pool boss builds his backroom staff.

Timmins, a vastly experienced operator in the lower leagues following spells at Stockport, Preston and Shrewsbury Town, left Port Vale last week with rumours suggesting he could be set to join Pool in the next 24 hours.

It was at the Shrews he developed current England number one Hart, who praises Timmins as a huge influence on his career.

Hart, a former Blackpool loan man, said: “Dave was instrumental in developing my skills from a junior to a senior player at Shrewsbury Town, where we enjoyed a great relationship both on and off the pitch.

“When I moved to the Premiership as a 19-year-old, I felt ready to make the massive leap to the top of the game.

“Dave’s coaching and support helped me towards making my debut at Manchester City, age 19, and England, aged 20.

“My grounding under Dave was invaluable in getting me to where I am today.”
