It's all down to the wire for League Two clubs

It promises to be a nail biting final day in League Two as more than half the teams in the division, including Blackpool, have something left to play for with the title, relegation and play-off places to be decided on Saturday evening.

With Luton and Exeter assured of a top-seven spot, two play-off places remain up for grabs and seven teams are in with a shout.

Carlisle and Blackpool currently occupy sixth and seventh but the Cumbrians face a tough trip to Exeter and only a win will guarantee them a play-off spot.

On paper, Blackpool have the most favourable task - a home game against already-relegated Orient's youngsters.

Victoria Park looks to be where the tension could be felt the most. Hosts Hartlepool must win if they are to have any chance of prolonging their 96-year stay in the Football League - and even then that may not suffice - but they face a promoted Doncaster side who still harbour hopes of an immediate return to League One as champions.

The other team who could follow Leyton Orient down to the National League is Newport. It is a remarkable achievement that they find themselves even in with a chance of survival, never mind favourites to stay up.

The Exiles were 11 points adrift of safety when caretaker boss Mike Flynn took over in March but they head into the final game of the season at home to Notts County, one of the few teams with nothing but pride to play for, with a two-point advantage over Hartlepool.

A win for Newport makes Hartlepool's result irrelevant but should Hartlepool fulfil their part of the bargain and Newport draw then the celebrations will take place at Victoria Park as Pools would stay up on goal difference - a result of Newport's 6-1 thrashing at Plymouth last month.

However, Hartlepool joy would mean despair for Doncaster in their title bid. Rovers go into the game a point behind leaders Plymouth and a point ahead of third-placed Portsmouth, with all three clubs already promoted.

Victory for Plymouth at Grimsby will confirm them as champions. Should Argyle draw at Blundell Park, Doncaster would need to win but a draw would be good enough for Rovers to sneak the title on goal difference if Plymouth were to lose.Also waiting in the wings for any slip ups are Portsmouth. Pompey must beat Cheltenham at home to stand any chance of winning the league and then hope that neither Plymouth or Doncaster win.

Just three points separate Carlisle and 12th-placed Mansfield, who travel to Crawley, with Stevenage (Accrington at home), Colchester (Yeovil at home), Cambridge and Wycombe all hopeful of gatecrashing the top seven.

The evening will end in heartbreak for at least one of the teams at Adams Park as Wycombe and Cambridge play each other.

Elsewhere, Luton will warm up for the play-offs with a home game against Morecambe and Crewe host Barnet.
