Ikpeazu wants to use survival experience

The striker on loan from Watford was part of the Crewe side which beat the drop by just two points last season.

And after turning 21 on Sunday, Ikpeazu hopes he can find his scoring boots and help Pool stay up too.

“I have plenty of experience of this situation from when I was at Crewe,” he said.

“Every game is important. We need to try to win a few on the bounce and maintain our performances. I just hope that we can get further away from the relegation zone.”

The Londoner is yet to start a game for Pool since joining in January but has made six substitute appearances.

And he revealed he’s working hard on improving his game, even if that means staying behind for extra training.

Ikpeazu explained: “I stay out on the training pitch working hard with (assistant manager) Richie Kyle and he’s been brilliant with me, helping me to work on my finishing, which I appreciate.

“I’m trying to develop my skills and I feel as though Blackpool haven’t seen the best of me yet at all.

“I’m doing a lot to try to improve in terms of my finishing, my first touch and my link-up play around the box. It’s getting better but I need to keep working hard.

“Because I’m so big, people overlook my age but I want to be a top player as quickly as I can.”

Having joined Watford from non-league football in summer 2013, Ikpeazu is yet to make a senior appearance for the Hornets and has spent much of his time out on loan.

After three spells at Crewe and one at Doncaster, he fired six goals for Port Vale in the first half of this season but Ikpeazu feels he is yet to fulfil his potential.

“I’ve played a lot of games but I still need to develop, and you only get better by playing games,” he said.

“I know that the best is yet to come. I’m just waiting on my opportunity.”
