Blackpool's Shaw in loan switch to Fylde

There were debut goals for Ben Tollitt and Luke Burgess in the Coasters' first competitive fixture for close to seven months.

Leading 3-1 at half-time, the Coasters saw their Cheshire hosts close the gap a single goal as the second half turned scrappy before substitute Burgess struck in the final seconds to seal a deserved victory.

A Fylde starting 11 featuring six debutants made a fast start as Junior Mondal hit the post in the first minute and Nick Haughton opened the scoring soon afterwards.

Twisting and turning in the area, the forward found space to work the ball on to his left foot to unleash a shot into the top corner.

The hosts responded positively, and when David Perkins was dispossessed in the middle of the park Tom Pratt had a free run on goal. However, Chris Neal was fast off his line to thwart the danger after 20 minutes.

The visitors then doubled their lead as Kurt Willoughby found space to finish cleverly past Joe Green.

The hosts halved the deficit on 24 minutes, when Liam Tongue whipped a low corner to the front post. Fylde couldn’t clear and Andy Hollins was there to smash the ball past Neal.

The two-goal cushion was restored on 33 minutes, when Tollitt burst forward before drilling in a 30-yard shot which found its way under Green and into the net.

Mondal headed just wide from Luke Burke's cross as it remained 3-1 at half-time.

Fylde had a chance to wrap up victory early in the second half as Haughton's super ball released Burke.

The defender unselfishly squared the ball to Monday, who couldn't direct his effort towards goal.

Nathan Shaw, signed on loan from Blackpool the previous day, had Fylde's next chance as he drove all the way from his own 18-yard-box to Hyde’s before shooting over.

Paddy Lane went close for Hyde as did Willoughby and Mondal for Fylde, who had a fright when the hosts pulled one back on 83 minutes.

The ball fell to Tom Morris on the edge of the area and the centre-half took one touch before volleying past Neal into the bottom corner.

Hyde then had a penalty shout waved away but the Coasters kept their composure and sealed victory in stoppage time.

Tollitt went clean through on goal and set up Burgess for a cultured finish at the far post.
