Mechanics pushed forward from the off and Billy McKenna gave them an excellent start with a goal after eight minutes.

Jamie Thomas doubled the lead, spotting the keeper off his line to score from outside the box.

Ben Fishwick sealed the win two minutes before the break, when Ben Roberts' superb pass freed him to score with a cracking strike.

Sam Kellett was in form form in goal for AFC but was denied a clean sheet when Alex Hallam went through one on one for a consolation goal in the 85th minute.

McKenna and Thomas, both scoring in successive games, were outstanding as was recent signing Roberts.

AFC are next due in action at home to struggling St Helens Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Mechs have bid a fond farewell to professional player Greg McCaragher, who has left to rejoin his Swedish club Ytterhogdals IK ahead of their season. McCaragher, who hails from Lancaster and developed at the academies at Burnley and Fleetwood Town, has been playing for AFC since early December.
