Fylde coast amateur football: Wrens keep pressure on and Sumner fires four for Fleetwood

The 2-1 victory keeps them in second place, level with early pace-setters Euxton Villa.

Two points and one position below sit Thornton Cleveleys, who thrashed Fylde coast rivals Lytham Town 5-1.

Thornton have picked up 10 points from four games and will leapfrog Wren Rovers and Euxton into top place if they win their game in hand. Poulton impressively saw off CMB 5-0 to stay sixth.

Wyre Villa lost 1-0 at home to Ulverston Rangers, leaving them eighth in division one.

Danny Sumner scored four as FC Fleetwood made it three straight wins in the premier division of the Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Alliance with an 8-3 win over FC Albion.

Further goals by Stuart Mellor, Daryll Rankine and Lewis Walmsley (2) ensured Fleetwood go into this weekend’s derby with Queens as table-toppers. Aran Bottomley and Adam Heaney (2) scored for Albion. Pairs too for Whalley and Khambay in Layton Seniors’ 6-2 win over Highfield Social, Ryder and Hastings scoring the others.

Blackpool South kept up the pressure at the top with an 11-1 thumping of Exceptional Kitchens, while there were away wins for Queens at AFC Ardwick (4-0) and Phoenix Car Care at Harris and Co (3-1).

In division one, it was a tale of two halves as Unity Rangers faced Belle Vue. Trailing 3-0 at half-time, Belle Vue rang the changes and bounced back to draw 3-3 with goals from Jason Jewitt (2) and a Rob Pye penalty. Danny Horner (2) and Aron Copper had looked to have put Rangers in command.

Marton continued their 100 per cent start as Jack Yates, Dan Ball, Jordan Casey, Graeme King and Andy Barrow all scored in the 5-3 win over Mavericks.

Attend-a-Lock grabbed their first win of the season against Viva Galaxy (4-2) as did AFC Broadwaters, overcoming Kirkham and Wesham 3-2. Elsewhere, there were wins for Little Black Pug over AMS Car Care (2-1) and Foxhall against Check Elec (6-1).

It’s four wins out of four for division two leaders West Coast Sports after beating Fleetwood Gym 4-1.

FC Rangers moved into second, beating Highfield 2-1, and New Philly share third spot after Ollie Giles, Jake Thomas and Kerian Wilson (2) secured a 4-1 win over 21st Century Windows.

Goals by Joe McGurk, Jack West, Jakub Literski and Denny Cain (2) secured Clifton Rangers’ first win of the season, 5-3 against Freckleton.

A first win also for Highlands, 3-2 against Marton Athletic, while Marshall Court and H&A Club shared the spoils 2-2.
