Billy Dollan opened the scoring in spectacular style with a 40-yard lob and doubled his tally with a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner. Layton’s other goals were two Ben Reader penalties.

This third win in four games means fourth-placed Layton are one of three clubs within a point of leaders Blackpool South, who defeated FC Albion 6-4.

Highfield Social are second, bouncing back from their first defeat with a 5-0 win over Phoenix Car Care courtesy of Andy Harvie (2), Charlie Carpenter, Chris Daws and Robbie Hulme.

Foxhall went top of division one with their fourth win in five games, 4-1 over bottom club Kirkham and Wesham.

Former leaders Marton slip to third after a 4-2 defeat by unbeaten AFC Jacinta, who go second.

Chekk Elec are fourth after overpowering Viva Galaxy 12-1, Unity Rangers fifth after a 3-0 victory over Attend-a-Lock and Mavericks sixth after beating AFC Broadwaters 4-0. AMS Car Care edged a classic against No.3 4-3, leaving both on six points from four games.

New leaders also in division two as FC Rangers stretched their unbeaten start to five games, defeating New Philly 5-2.

That moved them a point about West Coast Sports, who suffered their first defeat 2-1 to fourth-placed 21st Century Windows. Ciao Ciao are third after beating Highfield 5-3.

Clifton Rangers pulled level with Fleetwood Gym, beating them 2-1, while Marshall Court and Marton Athletic played out a 3-3 draw.

Thornton Cleveleys continued their unbeaten start to the West Lancashire League season with an impressive 4-1 win against Hurst Green.

They now sit top of the premier division despite having played a game fewer than many of their rivals, including Blackpool Wren Rovers, who slipped to sixth following a 3-1 defeat at second-placed Fulwood Amateurs. All other WLL games involving Fylde coast clubs were postponed.
