The Northern Irishman, 25, has been reunited with his former Shrimps boss Jim Bentley on a one-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

Conlan replaces fellow full-back Scott Duxbury, who has left the club with a year of his contract remaining.

A product of the Burnley youth set-up, Conlan has represented his country at Under-21 and various youth levels.

He joined Morecambe in 2016, initially on loan, and has made more than 100 EFL appearances for the League Two club.

Conlan told the Fylde website: “I’ve had a good relationship with Jim over the years, so that’s the main reason for me.

"I heard of the interest recently and it was all about playing games, so knowing the gaffer and how he works, seeing the facilities here, it all seemed a great fit for me.

“I already know this is an environment I will enjoy. Adding players and experience to an already good squad, it looks like things are going really well. We should be pushing for promotion and I want to be part of that.”

Manager Bentley said: “Luke is obviously a player I know very well from my time at Morecambe. I think it’s fair to say he improved year on year and is now a good, solid, modern day left-back.

“He’s an outstanding professional and character, and I’m sure he will fit in with the players already at the club. That will be helped by him knowing some of them already.

"He ticks a lot of boxes for us and I’m sure he will do well for AFC Fylde.”

Duxbury, also 25, has agreed the early termination of his Fylde contract.

A club statement says the "the defender was not in the management team's plans going forward, so an agreement was reached for him to leave."

Duxbury joined the Coasters in summer 2019 from Stockport County and made 27 appearances for the club last season.
