Former Pool favourite Ian Holloway leaves QPR post

Holloway, who masterminded Blackpool's fairytale promotion to the Premier League in 2010, ended the season at Loftus Road with just three wins in nine.

It saw QPR finish the Championship league season in 16th place.

National reports have linked former England coach Steve McClaren with the position.

The club's CEO Lee Hoos said: “On behalf of the board we are hugely grateful to Ian for his incredible efforts during his time with us.

“He joined us at a critical stage as we looked to reduce the wage bill, bring in younger talent and remain competitive on the pitch at the same time.

“That is no easy task and it was down to his desire, love for the club and hard work that he achieved those goals.

“However, we are now looking to take the next step as we continue to work through what is a vital period of transition for the football club.”

Meanwhile, another former Pool favourite Ian Evatt is also on the move after being released from League Two side Chesterfield.

Evatt had recently taken on the role of caretaker manager once the club's relegation to non-league was confirmed.
