Former Blackpool and Fleetwood keeper Matt Gilks joins Bolton

The former Blackpool and Fleetwood Town keeper Matt Gilks has joined Bolton Wanderers as a player and goalkeeping coach.

Scotland international Gilks spent six seasons at Bloomfield Road (2008-14), playing alongside Evatt in their Premier League campaign.

He agreed a one-year deal with Fleetwood last summer and was one of three keepers used by Town last season - he was briefly first-choice in August and September.

Rochdale-born Gilks has made over 400 league appearances and Bolton are his 11th club in a 20-year senior career.

Evatt told the Bolton Wanderers website: “I am delighted to welcome Matt GIlks as our new goalkeeper coach. He is a fantastic character and, after a stellar playing career, he moves into an exciting new role.

“Matt has a wealth of knowledge to give our goalkeepers and will be a huge asset for this football club.”
