Fleetwood Town's new arrival has quickly settled into Highbury life

A deadline day deal saw the 23-year-old swap League One leaders Hull City for the Cod Army, signing until the end of the season.

Batty had spent his whole career so far with the Tigers and played 33 times in the Championship last season, with 13 games this campaign across all competitions.

Speaking to The Gazette, he said: “It’s been good, the lads have welcomed me in well.

“I’ve met the manager (Simon Grayson) and everything’s been good so far. The facilities are great and I can’t wait to get going.

“I was at the Hull training ground just waiting about most of the day, just seeing what was coming through.

“The opportunity to come here and play was one that took my eye, so I wanted to come down here and see where it takes me.

“I knew Fleetwood were a good side. I spoke to Lewie Coyle before I came and he said everything is great here.

“The lads are sound, the facilities are really good and it made it a no-brainer really.

“This season I wasn’t playing much or involved in the team that much, so for me, I needed to go out there and play some games to get back into my football.

“This is the first move for me so I don’t know how to go about things really.

“Everyone has welcomed me in and I’ve settled in well with the hotel that I’m staying in, so everything is good.”

Town are without a win in nine as they welcome Bristol Rovers to Highbury this afternoon.

It’s a statistic that surprises the new arrival after what he has witnessed since making the move to Highbury.

Batty said: “I was shocked when I heard it because I didn’t know that’s how it’s been.

“The team is definitely better than the last results they’ve had.

“We know what they’re (Bristol Rovers) going to be like. They’re going to be energetic like every other team.

“We know that we’ve got to put our stamp on the game, go with our game plan rather than focusing on theirs.

“We’ve got some great quality in this team that I’ve noticed within a week, so I know that we can go and do our job.

“From me, Fleetwood fans can expect graft and hard work in everything I do.

“If that’s training, games or if I’m not involved, I’ll be bang at it, ready to perform.

“I’ve been training for the last six months and I’ve been feeling like I’ve been doing well in training, so I’m ready to hit the ground running.”
