A product of the club's academy, Rydel made his debut for the club in September 2018 and made 19 appearances in total for the Cod Army.

The 20-year-old has been in and out of the first team picture this season, but did come on as a late sub earlier this month and started against Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.

It was Rydel’s fifth appearance since Grayson’s appointment as head coach at the end of January and speaking after the game about him, Grayson said: “Ryan has done all right. He had a few games a few weeks ago, then we took him out of the team.

"But in the last few weeks in training he’s shown that he deserved an opportunity.

“He came off (after 65 minutes) because we changed the system, went to a back four and tried to add an attacking option.”

Rydel follows former Fleetwood captain Paddy Madden to Edgeley Park as the National League side invest to try and find their way into the football league.

It will be a busy summer for Town as they look to overhaul their squad in order to push for promotion next season, seemingly Rydel was not a part of those plans and like Irishman Madden, the club have opted to act swiftly to get a jump on summer business that would need to be done.
