The forward and defender’s contracts run out this summer and boss Steven Pressley says they have been released for ‘footballing reasons’.

Ameobi, 34, joined the club on a free transfer in February after leaving Bolton Wanderers.

He made 10 appearances and scored once but missed a chunk of the end of Town’s League One campaign after picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 home defeat to Barnsley in March.

Fleetwood Town's Danny Andrew is tackled by a Crewe Alexandria player

He was named on the bench for the final three games of the season and made a cameo appearance in Town’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool.

But he was an unused substitute in Fleetwood’s penultimate game against Walsall and in Town’s final game of the campaign that saw them beat Crewe 2-0 at Highbury and retain their League One status.

Andrew had an injury-hit two-year spell at Highbury after joining from Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2014 and he has not been offered a new deal.

The 23-year-old left-back managed to break into the first team but suffered knee ligament damage in Town’s 2014 Boxing Day defeat to Bradford City. He endured a five-month spell on the sidelines before making his comeback on the final day of the 2014/15 season in Town’s 2-1 win at Port Vale.

Andrew started the 2015/16 campaign as first choice left-back but picked up a thigh injury in the 5-0 defeat at Gillingham in September and only featured again eight months later in Town’s final game against Crewe.
