Bernard put The Gazette in contact with Venceslav in his homeland and the Bulgarian explained his choice of favourite club.

Venceslav said: “Generally speaking, I was sick and tired of commercialisation of present day football and the way giant clubs are operating.

“As a fan of English football, I don’t like the fact there is almost nothing left from the traditions.

“As a youngster I was a fan of Liverpool and then Aston Villa, but now I prefer to support real English Football.

“I started supporting Fleetwood Town FC when they won the Football Conference and entered the Football League.

“I watched the play-offs at Wembley and as usual Fleetwood Town made a good impression.

“I was impressed by their progress and their many promotions, and the rest is history.

“I would love to come over to UK and watch Fleewood play at Highbury”

Bernard Nolan added: “This is something we at FTOSC could look at in the future. Perhaps we can find a sponsor to help with costs for Venceslav?

“I am sending him his Supporters’ Pack and other Fleetwood Town memorabilia this coming week.

“I will keep all members informed of his progress to come over to the UK and live his dream of seeing his team play live.”
