Fleetwood’s opening pre-season game is at home to Jurgen Klopp’s men on July 13.

It is not known whether Liverpool’s Euro 2016 stars like Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Adam Lallana will be available.

Pressley said: “It will be a strong Liverpool side, as strong as they can get out.”

Pressley brought in three players last week, defender Michael Duckworth from Hartlepool United, midfielder Elliott Osborne from Nantwich Town and ex-AFC Fylde goalkeeper Matty Urwin.

And Pressley says Duckworth is a player that caught his eye three years ago when he was boss at Coventry City when Duckworth played in United’s 1-1 FA Cup second round draw in December 2013.

City went on to win the replay 2-1 and Pressley says the 24-year-old will provide options at full-back.

He said: “When I was at Coventry we played Hartlepool twice in the cup and Duckworth played well.

“Steve Davis our chief scout has been watching him for some time.

“I met him a number of months ago.

“He brings competition in the full-back positions and he can play both on the left and right.”
