Batty had spent all of his professional career with the Tigers prior to his deadline day switch to Highbury earlier this year.

As well as it being the first time the 23-year-old has faced Hull, he goes into the game hoping to help Town post a third straight victory after their wins against AFC Wimbledon and Rochdale.

Batty said: “It will be a bit strange, I spent quite a few years there and it’s come round quite quickly that I’m heading back there as well.

“The time I’ve been here has flown, even though I have had quite a few games here.

“It’ll be an interesting one. I got there at 16 and many different faces have come in and out of the building.

“It’s mad how things come and go and where you end up. It doesn’t really bother me, I’m just here to play football and do my thing but it will definitely be a weird one after spending so long there.

“It’s exciting that they are top of the league as well, knowing what we’ve been doing recently.

“I think we can go there and give them a good contest.

“Hopefully, if we can get the win, it’d be very nice.

“You tend not to but you do compare teams and see what their strengths and weaknesses are.

“I feel that, for this year and next year, we’ve got a good chance of giving it a go.”

Hull might top the table with Fleetwood in mid-table but the two sides both have shown defensive solidity.

Only Hull (32) have conceded fewer goals than Simon Grayson’s team, who have the joint second best goals against tally of 33 with Sunderland.

Batty said: “It’s nice. Sometimes you’re holding on, but at the end of the day, a win is a win and you get a nice three points on the board.

“It’s the full team that contributes to the clean sheets, the defending starts from the front.

“They set us off going on the press and what direction we want to lead them, then it’s just hard work from then on.

“The midfielders work hard together and the backline keeps nice and straight and strong.

“Knowing that we have the players we do behind us, it allows us to progress more and allows us to push forward.

“Saying that, we’ve got to do both, we’ve got to make sure we’re up and down the pitch.

“We’ve got to make sure they’re secure and supported as much as we can, as well as the strikers.

“The team is in a great shape, we’re hard to break down and we don’t concede too many goals which is a good thing.”
