The defender joined from Ipswich Town during the last transfer window and has had similar moves in the past.

The full-back’s deal at Ipswich runs out at the end of the season, though they have an option to extend it for a year.

While his future remains up in the air, in the short-term, Donacien wants to show what he can do while also helping Fleetwood display what they’re capable of.

“I’m taking every game as it comes,” he explained.

“I’m super happy to be back playing, I’m happy here.

“The plan is to find somewhere more stable. I’m turning 28 this year and I’m at the point in my career where I need to play as many games as I can to keep showing what I can do. I enjoy playing, no matter where I’m playing.

“I feel like we as a team can beat anyone. It doesn’t matter who it is, I feel we’re strong enough to get what we want from the game.

“Everyone is in this division for a reason, all of their players are just professional players and I do feel like we can beat anyone in this league.

“We’re not playing Barcelona week in and week out.”

When Donacien first joined Town, they were playing four at the back under interim boss Simon Wiles.

With Simon Grayson in charge, that is now a three with Donacien used as a wing-back.

It changes the expectations the 27-year-old puts on himself, in an area of his game that’s looking to strengthen.

He said: “I expect more from myself going forward, more of an outlet, and there is more going up and down as a wing-back as there is at right-back.

“You have to join in a lot more at wing-back and at right-back, when you’re attacking, you’re kind of backing up play. At wing-back you have to get involved.

“When the crosses come in from the other side you have to make sure you’re at the back post or at the edge of the box.

“There is more emphasis, you have to do more and create more.”

Having undergone a change of manager so early in his time at Highbury, Donacien is enjoying Grayson’s approach to the game.

“It’s very team-orientated, everything is structured,” he said.

“Moving forward, attacking, the way we do things, it’s all very structured and I like that.

“If someone breaks the line, I know where I should be because we work so hard on the structure and the shape and we have to get back in and get tucked in tight.”
