A Fleetwood statement says the fixture: "has been called off as a precaution for the safety of our players and staff due to Covid-19 restrictions."

Huddersfield reported "a small number of positive tests" at their Canalside training base on Friday and pulled out of their match at Southport the following day.

Wednesday's match was Fleetwood's final scheduled friendly before their season begins with a Carabao Cup tie at home to Wigan a week on Saturday. The club added that "at this stage, there will not be a fixture organised to replace this game."

Town won their first two friendlies against Carlisle United and Stockport County, and has since been beaten by Port Vale and Blackburn Rovers.
