Fleetwood Town defender won't place any extra emphasis on facing the league leaders

Saturday’s clash against League One leaders Hull City will be just like any other game to Fleetwood Town defender James Hill.

The two clubs will be meeting for the fourth time this season across league and cup.

Hull have two victories to Town’s one, though the latter came in impressive fashion when the Cod Army won 4-1 at Highbury in October.

A month later, the two sides played at the KCOM Stadium with Hull running out 2-0 winners in their FA Cup tie.

Then, in January, their Papa John’s Trophy encounter ended with Hull winning 3-2, again on home soil.

While the two clubs know each other well, Hill isn’t taking too much notice of those previous encounters.

The 19-year-old said: “I don’t think we look at it like we’re going to the league leaders, we look at every other game the same.

“It’s just the next game and we’ll go into it the exact same.

“We just focus on ourselves and don’t really worry about the opposition.”

Town can take heart from some of their results following Simon Grayson’s arrival at the end of January.

In that time, Town have defeated Doncaster Rovers and Lincoln City, both of whom were chasing promotion.

“We’ve done well. Ever since the Lincoln game we’ve really picked it up as a team coming away to the bigger oppositions,” Hill said.

“We tend to switch it on more and tend to play the better football when we play the big teams. Overall we’ll have a good chance going into the next game against Hull.”
