Town have lost their last two games with defeat against Hull City seven days ago followed by a midweek loss to Crewe Alexandra.

Those defeats have all but ended any faint hopes of the play-offs for Simon Grayson’s men.

Today’s opponents, Doncaster Rovers are half-a-dozen points off the top six with five games still to play, having been in and around that area for much of the season.

Whether there’s anything to play for or not, Andrew expects Town to be motivated as he prepares to meet his former side.

He said: “We’ve had a couple of, I wouldn’t say bad performances, because we’ve done alright but just not got the results.

“It’s been a bit like our season really. We’ve not been bad, we’ve been so close, but just don’t seem to be able to get over the line in games.

“I know they’re a bit closer to the play-offs than we are, they’ll be looking to get three points against us and keep their play-off hopes alive.

“We’ll be going there to try and get the three points, we want to finish as high as possible.

“The play-offs are pretty much out of reach, but if you win every game, you never know what is possible.

“We’ve just got to go into every game with the mindset of we’re going there to win.”

The fine margins of Fleetwood’s season have frustrated the 30-year-old.

Being competitive in games without being rewarded for their efforts is starting to wear thin on Andrew, who rues Town’s shortcomings.

He said: “We’ve probably always lost games by one goal, two at most, we’ve never really been battered.

“There’s been parts of games when we’ve been under the cosh a bit, but over the period of 90 minutes, we’ve never really been in a game where we’ve been torn apart.

“In games like these, you’re always in the game which is the most frustrating thing.

“When you lose the game you might as well lose it 4-0 than 1-0, going for it.

“It’s been our season. We got ourselves on a good little run, we won a few on the bounce and kept a few clean sheets.

“You get a bit of hope, then we slipped up at home against Swindon Town (2-0 defeat).

“That was a really big opportunity to go into a two-week break with five or six wins on the trot.

“We’d have known we’d have had a good chance of the play-offs and that slowed us up at a crucial time.”
