Having succeeded Uwe Rosler earlier in the year, Sheridan has effectively secured League One status for Town with six wins and two draws in nine games.

Sheridan was brought in by chairman Andy Pilley on a deal until the end of the season but Town’s fans will have to wait and see whether he is still at Highbury next season.

He said: “If you are going to ask me if I’m happy here then yeah, I like the club.

“I think things have gone OK, there are good people in and around the place and they have made me feel very welcome.

“So long as you are winning and have got results it makes life a lot easier and you can see the relief on everyone associated with the club’s face.

“I’m just concentrating on Saturday; what will be will be.

“I’m just looking at Blackpool; we have got to go there and perform.”

Sheridan’s future being presently up in the air also means decisions are yet to be taken on Town’s squad for next season.

Instead, he was focusing solely on the task he was handed when coming into Highbury; keeping Town in League One.

Sheridan said: “I don’t know who is out of contract, who is in contract.

“I have not looked any further than the next game and the next win which is hopefully round the corner.

“The most important thing in my eyes which is what I came in for, to keep this club in the division. That is massively important.

“What will be will be in my eyes; I’m just concentrating on winning as many games as I can.”

Six clean sheets in Sheridan’s nine games have provided the foundation for Town’s climb up the table.

With Town having been to the play-offs last season, he wants them to take inspiration from one of this season promotion chasers.

He said: “I like my teams to play and pass the ball but sometimes you have to dig in and we have done that well.

“I think Shrewsbury have done that a lot this season.

“They have not always been the best team on the day but they have always been picking points up and that is why they are where they are.

“They have got a great mentality and work ethic; they have done very well but I feel, because of the players we have in the team, we can take care of the ball more than we have done.”
