Finley arrived from Accrington Stanley on a free transfer, having mutually terminated his contract just days before, and signed a one-year-deal at Highbury.

Sowerby departed for Sixfields for a nominal, undisclosed fee, seeing his six years on the Fylde coast come to an end.

The 25-year-old made 85 appearances for the Cod Army, scoring four goals but had failed to make the matchday squad so far this season.

Town will have to wait on their new man Finley to play for them, as he is currently serving an eight match suspension.

Finley was banned for abusive language towards Paul McShane on New Year's Day and was given an eight match suspension.

The 28-year-old is also serving a two match ban for reaching 10 yellow cards.

The Cod Army were keen to get the Liverpudlian signed up so they could start to tick off the games he will have to sit out, which goes across all cup competitions and the league as he has already missed four games whilst on the books at the Wham Stadium.

With Finley technically available for tomorrow's clash with Peterborough United, it is looking likely that the trip to his old side Stanley on October 20 could see his first inclusion for Joey Barton's side.
