Fleetwood striker David Ball's lob shortlisted for goal of the year gong

Fleetwood Town forward David Ball's sensational goal against Preston North End is in the running for the Mitre goal of the year award for 2015.

Ball lobbed PNE keeper Sam Johnstone from 20-yards out as Fleetwood came from behind to draw 1-1 against local rivals North End at Highbury last March.

Each Football League club were invited to submit their best strike of 2015 as part of the competition, with Football League Tonight revealing the top then goals on last night’s show.

Voting closes at midday on Friday April 1 when the ten goals will be whittled down to five remaining contenders.

The overall winner will then be decided on the night at the 2016 Football League Awards at Manchester Central on April 17.
