Town travel to Charlton Athletic this evening (7pm) looking for a fourth straight league win.

The Addicks have won five on the spin themselves and stand fifth in the table, though Fleetwood would overtake them with victory at The Valley.

Attention will then turn to Saturday and the trip to fellow League One high-fliers Hull City in the first round of the FA Cup.

Head coach Barton is pleased with the momentum his side have picked up in the last 10 days and will be looking to use that to their advantage.

The Town boss said: “They’re two really good fixtures against teams who are there and thereabouts in our division.

“When you come out of the past week with nine points and you look at the block of games, you always have aspirations of moving up the table, albeit we know how difficult the league is.

“To string three wins together in our league can really shoot you up the table, and to have that solid foundation of being able to keep a clean sheet (Town have not conceded in any of those three games).

“Charlton beat Portsmouth last time out and are a really good side who came out of the Championship last year. They’ve lost a few bodies but Lee Bowyer has done a great job there.

“It looks like they’re up and running already in terms of trying to kick-start their return to Championship football.

“It’s another tough fixture for us but the mood the team is in and the way things are going, I believe iron sharpens iron.

“We go to a fellow promotion-chasing team. We’re in good fettle, they’re in good fettle. I’m really looking forward to the test.”
