Dobbie worked his way wonderfully to the byline but Town couldn’t get a body on his cross.

The forward’s looping cross was spilled by Davies but nobody was in a position to mop up.

Nathan Pond’s outstretched toe, from another ball pulled back by Dobbie was the closest they came, the defender unable to make contact, the deadlock preserved.

Barnsley came close to breaking it within minutes of the restart.

Devante Cole, son of 90s goal machine Andy was too clever for Jordan, his shot taking a deflection and flying over Chris Maxwell’s bar.

It was the start of a battering from Barnsley, Jennings rattling the woodwork, Cole forcing a diving save from Maxwell as all the first half work suddenly looked like it might have been for nothing.

But the visitors threat gradually faded, Fleetwood again with chances to seal all three points.

Evans should have done when he was released by Blair, choosing instead to cross, nobody in a Town shirt able to finish.

Then, a minute later Jamie Proctor showed great strength to keep the ball wide on the right, a low cross just inches away from the outstretched foot of sub David Ball.
