The first half was the quieter of the two with both sides struggling to create any clear cut chances.

Matty Wolfenden, who scored the winner in the last match between these two sides, was the dangerman again having the best of the home side’s chances.

However the best chance for the visitors fell to Andy Russell who’s first time shot inside the box was cleared off the line by Lee Neville.

As the second period wore on chances came thick and fast for both sides but it was Danny Lloyd who had the best of them from a Fylde point of view breaking into the box on a number of occasions but going on his own when there may have been better options in the six-yard box.

The home side signalled their intentions right from the start dominating the play and passing well around the Fylde box. Caspar Hughes gave away a free-kick just outside the box for a foul on Wolfenden but Ollie Banks’ effort was comfortably caught by Ben Hinchliffe.

No further efforts were created until the 27th minute when Russell was denied by Neville’s goal line clearance after a Fylde corner was poorly dealt with by the home defence.

In the final seven minutes of the half, the game came into live with Chris Worsley firing over from 30 yards, and then Danny Lloyd’s back post header was tipped over the bar by James Spencer a minute later.

Wolfenden then wasted his two efforts four minutes before the break shooting wide before firing straight at Hinchliffe seconds later.

Five minutes into the second half a defensive error from FC United allowed Harry Winter to latch on to the loose ball and feed Lloyd who was running into the box but his effort flew wide of the mark.

A minute later Winter missed a great chance for the lead shooting wide when completely free in the box.

FC United had a penalty shout waved away as the referee gave a free-kick inches outside the Fylde box but Jerome Wright’s effort was deflected into Hinchliffe’s path and he dived low to gather.

In the final 20 minutes the game became tense and tackles were flying in all over the park with players being booked.

Banks and Worsley couldn’t find the target for FC United and neither could Loyd late on firing a free kick over from a great position before scuffing a shot wide from 12 yards two minutes later.

Neither side could find what would have been a winner late on despite the referee playing four minutes of injury time meaning both sides shared a point in what was the right result from the game.

Dave Challinor should be pleased with the performance his side produced again and his side remain unbeaten.
