The midfielder is now the club's top scorer, overtaking striker Kyle Vassell with goals against Morecambe and Plymouth Argyle to take his season's tally to 12 in all competitions.

The 22-year-old has taken his game to another level in recent weeks, backing his goals up with assists - but the Pool boss insists there is still more to come from the former Carlisle man.

"Getting double figures from midfield is a phenomenal effort whatever league you're in," Bowyer said.

“I think we can only count on one hand the number of times Pottsy has not had an impact on a game this season.

“That’s credit to him but he’s got to keep going. He’s got more to give and he’s got areas of his game he can still improve and that’s what we’re demanding from him.”

Potts isn't the only Pool player to have scored in consecutive games, with striker Mark Cullen notching on both Saturday and Tuesday to take his personal tally to five goals.

Bowyer added: “Any striker will tell you they want to score goals but one of the things for me is the workrate and contribution to the team.

“Realistically you can’t score every game but it’s what they bring also and I thought on Saturday and Tuesday Mark Cullen did more than just his goals.

“On Tuesday his link-up play and the way he led the line on his own was terrific.”
