Delfouneso demands Pool keep clean sheets

The Seasiders have gone five games without keeping a clean sheet, while they have also conceded two in each of their last four games.

It’s a record that has coincided with Pool slipping down the league, and Delfouneso says there is only one way to stop the rot.

He said: “We believe we will score goals but it’s about keeping them out at the other end as well. If we do that, we will finish the season on a positive note and who knows where that will take us.

“It’s been all different types of goals which we’ve conceded. Sometimes it’s been individual mistakes while at other times there’s been a catalogue of errors leading up to goals.

“If we can cut out those mistakes we’ll be fine as I believe we have good attacking options and we have people who can score goals.”

Delfouneso’s goal on Tuesday took his own tally to four in his last seven games since returning for his fourth spell with the club.

“It’s nice to get in the goals but I would have liked to had some more,” he added.

“I’m glad I participated in getting us a point, but it would have been much nicer had we got the three points.

“I believe I can get in the game wherever I’m playing. As long as I’m on the pitch that’s the most important thing to me.

“If I’m on the pitch hopefully I’m scoring and making goals as well. Potentially I could have scored a couple of other goals but it wasn’t to be.

“I’ll just keep trying to improve and take that into Saturday and hope we can go again.”
