The defender's switch was delayed over the weekend due to a minor administrative issue with the clubs coming to a temporary loan arrangement allowing him to face Barnsley.

Davis, the son of Crewe boss Steve, has been with Fleetwood since October and boss Steven Pressley is pleased with the continuity his capture will ensure.

Pressley said: “I’m really pleased with the signing. He’s really impressed me since coming to the Club as his attitude and levels of professionalism are great.

“It’s brought a degree of continuity to us as well because Joe has integrated really well within the group. It makes for an easy transition for him.”

Davis added: “I’m delighted that it’s all been done now and I can concentrate on my football. I’m looking forward to my time here and I just want to do well.

“I stated from the start that I’d be really interested in staying with the Club, and I’m just over the moon to be here now.”

Davis has made 14 appearances for Fleetwood so far this season, mostly playing alongside skipper Nathan Pond in central defence.

Town remain active in the transfer market with Pressley expressing the need to strengthen in defensive and attacking areas.
