Cullen: Time for me to repay gaffer's faith

The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating season having found starts and appearances hard to come by.

But he has remained patient and now has two goals to his name from the last two games - after being brought back into the side after Kyle Vassell broke his foot.

Cullen’s goal against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday was just his fifth of the season, but he has promised there is more to come if he carries on playing.

He said: “It’s been frustrating for me on a personal level not playing as much as I’ve wanted, but I’ve had my chance in the last two games and I’ve got two goals. So I just need to carry on now and take the chances when they come.

“You wait so patiently to get your chance and then it’s up to you to take it and I can’t do much more than score two in two.

“Hopefully the gaffer sticks by me and I’ll continue to repay that faith.”

Cullen played a pivotal role in Pool’s impressive 3-0 win against Plymouth, scoring the first in what turned out to be a comfortable night’s work for Gary Bowyer’s side.

The Seasiders now travel to face Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday; a side that only sit below Blackpool in the table based on goal difference.

Cullen added: “We need to keep more clean sheets if we are going to push up the league, that’s one of the things we’ve let ourselves down with.

“We always score goals and if we can keep more clean sheets, we will certainly win more games than we lose.

“We go into every game and take each one as it comes and try and win that match.”
