The 25-year-old returned from a seven-month absence to come off the bench in Blackpool’s 2-1 defeat at Oldham on Easter Monday.

Despite the defeat, Pool’s second in the space of just four days, Cullen is confident the Seasiders can stay away from the bottom four.

“The lads are very confident that we have got enough,” he said.

“We might have lost the two games over Easter but there was very little between the teams.

“We’re more than capable of putting a run together to push us well clear of it.

“We just need to carry on doing our jobs every day and come game day, get on it and try and get three points.

“Of course everybody is disappointed that we lost, it’s never nice, but we’ve still got games to play and we’re still clear.”

Oldham came from behind on Monday to score twice in the second half to condemn Blackpool to another damaging defeat.

Cullen added: “I thought in the first half we did well and we did our jobs properly, but in the second half we eased off a bit.

“We’ve got to take the positives, the first half was good. We just need to carry that through for the full 90.

“You take the lead into half-time and you look to build on it, but sometimes it doesn’t work that way.

“When that happens you’ve got to stick to the basics and carry on doing what you did in the first half, but it’s easier said than done.

“It’s something we certainly have to improve on.”
