Crewe 1 Blackpool 2- Aldred hands Pool huge win

The defender fired a deflected winner minutes after Marcus Haber looked to have stolen a point for the home side.

Crewe then missed a stoppage time penalty when Brad Inman fired high over the bar, on an afternoon which saw Jack Redshaw sent off.

The striker was first booked for ‘over celebrating’ putting Blackpool ahead, before seeing red moments later with a foul on David Fox.

But some heroic defending, and a huge slice of luck with the penalty lifted Pool out of the bottom four.

It was a thrilling game which saw Pool create more genuine chances than they have in the last four games put together.

Danny Philliskirk and David Norris set the tone with long-range efforts before Redshaw almost scored twice in a minute.

Crewe’s defending was all over the place, but they almost broke the deadlock themselves on 16 minutes after two Pool defender collided allowing Brad Inman clean in on goal.

Luckily keeper Colin Doyle responded with a superb block-save.

But it was on 35 minutes the deadlock was broken, and the game burst into life.

Philliskirk found space to cross onto the head of Jim McAlister who rattled the ball, luckily for Pool it was Redshaw who reacted quickest to head home.

The striker celebrated in style in front of Blackpool’s 512 travelling fans, and was booked in a moment which would two minutes later prove costly.

Redshaw clattering into David Fox on the half-way line and being handed his second yellow card.

To be sent off in such a big game, for celebrating a goal is nothing short of ridiculous.

It was a game you couldn’t take your eyes off as both teams looked for what would be a vital goal, at this point Pool were just about doing enough.

Just as things appeared to be calming down, all hell broke loose with two goals in two minutes.

First Marcus Haber looked to have broken Pool’s hearts with a lovely flick past Doyle, before Aldred showed all of his leadership qualities to deflect home a winner.

The defender’s effort spun in the air, dropping over the line to send Pool’s fans into hysteria.

The spilled onto the pitch for what could be a huge, huge goal.

This was a crazy game and one which still have one more twist in stoppage time when substitute Emmerson Boyce dived into a challenge in the area, fouling Tom Hitchcock to give away a penalty.

Incredibly striker Inman fired high and wide into the stand - incredible stuff.

There was still time for White to clear off the line in the dying seconds, after Haber’s free-header looked to have beaten Doyle.

Pool’s players and fans celebrated a huge win at the end, one which will do their survival chances no harm at all.
