Bowyer: Quigley's loan move has worked out how we had hoped

Quigley, who will remain with Wrexham until the end of the season, has found the back of the net seven times in 10 games with the National League promotion chasers.

The 25-year-old, who signed from Welsh side TNS during the summer, has only featured 14 times for Blackpool this season - most of those appearances coming as a substitute.

The striker has yet to find the back of the net for Bowyer’s side although he did score the winning penalty in Blackpool’s Checkatrade Trophy penalty shootout win against Mansfield Town.

But it appears his loan spell at the Racecourse Ground is working wonders and Bowyer is delighted the loan move is working out.

“I speak to him after every game. He tells me how he’s done and then I get the proper report," he joked.

“But no, in all fairness he’s done great and that’s what the loan move was all about.

“He came here from the Welsh league which meant he had to adapt to full-time training.

“He made progress on that but what he needed was regular games. Unfortunately for us we’re not in the position where we have a reserve team.

“So we needed to get him out there and he’s gone and done what we hoped he would and what potentially we saw in him when we signed him.

“Hopefully he can finish the season strong, get double figures and get promoted with Wrexham if they can. That would be great for Scott to be involved in those pressure cooker situations.

“Then he’ll do a proper pre-season with us and then it’s down to him again.”
