Bowyer: It's time Blackpool turned it around

The Seasiders, who are two points above the League One drop zone, haven’t won at home since beating Bury 2-1 on October 17.

It has coincided with a miserable run of results which has seen them win just twice in 17 outings, but boss Gary Bowyer is confident a couple of wins will turn their season around.

He said: “This is another game of football we’ve got to try and win, it’s as simple as that. But we’re trying ever so hard.

“I looked at our results the other day and I think bar Blackburn and Bristol Rovers, there’s only been one goal in the defeats we’ve suffered.

“That just shows you the fine margins in this league and where we’re at this moment in time.

“We’ve always been competitive and we’ve got to make sure we continue that.

“We’ve got the boost of Sean Longstaff finding his scoring boots, which was a wonderful strike against Bury last week.

“Now others have got to contribute, we need everyone contributing goals and everyone working extremely hard to make sure we keep the ball out of the net at the other end.

“We know where we are in terms of competing with clubs budget-wise, but we’ve got to make we get ourselves back playing the football we did at the start of the season to produce the results we know we’re capable of.

“From the experience of last season, you know what a couple of wins can do.”

Walsall, who are two places above Pool in the league table in 16th, have only won three games away from home all season.

They drew 1-1 with the Seasiders in the reverse fixture at the Bescot Stadium.
